Covering a piece that already has a history.

La leather for armchair restoration has to do something difficult: look consistent with a piece of furniture that is decades old, without looking brand new on it. For a 1950s armchair we supplied Maya leather in the Cognac colour.

Maya has a wax and paraffin finish with a nubuck effect and through-dyeing: a scratch does not reveal a different colour underneath, and the natural marks of the hide stay visible instead of being covered. On a restoration this is exactly what is needed, because the material follows the wear of the piece instead of fighting it.

The yardage needed for a single armchair is small, and the article is available from stock: you can order what you need without waiting for a production run.
